Manuscript Information & Images
Codex Tchacos, which contains the only surviving copy of the Gospel of Judas, was recovered in successive stages. Images of sizable fragments of Codex Tchacos were published by a team of scholars assembled by National Geographic in 2006. Then additional fragments were discovered and photographs made by Mrs. Frieda Tchacos-Nussberger. Gregor Wurst, a German scholar, has used both sets of images to create a provisional digital reconstruction of all the surviving parts of the codex now available.

A thoroughly researched and riveting account of how the only known copy of the long-lost Gospel of Judas was discovered in Egypt in the late 1970s, shuffled back and forth across three continents by different antiquities dealers for decades, and then finally published by a team of scholars assembled by National Geographic in 2006.
An account of how Ohio-based antiquities dealer Bruce Ferrini withheld fragments of the manuscript containing the Gospel of Judas from those working to restore the text in the early 2000s and how his personal bankruptcy in 2006 ultimately led to the recovery of these fragments, which contain "essentially the balance of the Gospel of Judas."

Provides the only currently published edition of the manuscript fragments of Codex Tchacos discovered in the aftermath of the personal bankruptcy of antiquities dealer Bruce Ferrini in 2006; estimating that the newly recovered fragments "will allow us to read 90-95% of the text of the gospel," Wurst and Meyer present what they emphasize is a "preliminary transcription and translation" of the fragments and note that they “are in the process of discussing, with colleagues, the best way to deal with the formal translation of the fragments and the presentation and publication of the fragments within the text of Codex Tchacos."
