I'd never deny there was a Thomas Christianity. Question is when did it start. I'd say at the earliest about the early third century. That's why I'd say that Riley and others are commiting a fallacy of equivocation: this is called Thomas (the Gospel) and that is called Thomas (the later Christianity) and so it (supposedly) follows that the one is part of the other.
